Department of English Language and Culture Students Receive Awards at English Speech Contest

On Saturday, December 2nd, the 7th Student English Speech Contest, sponsored by the Aichi America-Japan Society, was held at the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In the university student speech contest division, students from universities throughout Aichi prefecture participated. Thirteen participants, who had each passed an initial written selection process, gave uniquely impressive speeches on the topic of “The reason I learn English.”

The following five students from the Chubu University Department of English Language and Culture gave speeches: Tomomi Saito, Yuto Ito, Shoki Kobayashi, Kodai Nakada, and Hiroki Ueda.

After a strict review, Kobayashi (3rd year) received second place, and Nakada (3rd year) received the Honorary Chairman Award. (The Honorary Chairman Award was voted for on the day of the event by all members of the Aichi America-Japan Society present.)
