  • Research on analytical applications of lasers.
  • Development of laser microprobe analysis system such as laser-induced plasma spectrometry, laser ionization mass spectrometry, laser pyrolysis gas chromatography.
  • Research on laser optical tweezers and non-contact fingerprint capturing device.
  • Research on applications of computer techniques to electronic system and data processing.
  • Research on crystal designs, growth and structure analysisof new ferroelectrics in order to apply to electronic devices.
  • Research on designs and analysis of high-speed, high-performance integrated circuits for various communications systems and biomedical applications.
  • Research on development of high performance cw THz lasers and the applications.

Electronics Applications

The main research issues are shown below:

  • Research of signal analysis for multiple reflected VLF waves between ionosphere and ground, for the charged particles beams, the observation of the precursor phenomena with ULF/ELF waves on the earthquake, especially Schumann resonance by the finite element method(FEM), the excitation of this frequency band on the earthquake, and numerical analysis on the orbit of the ion beam.
  • Research on applications of computer technique to system, especially for filter design and VLF waves embedded in noise.
  • Study by simulation of the characteristics of atmospherics ions and aerosol particles.
  • Research on analysis of propagation and scattering of radio waves using FEM or FDFD method.
  • Numerical analysis of propagation and scattering of electro-magnetic wave using finite element method.
  • Manipulation of electron and ion beams and their applications based oncharged particle beams engineering.

Electronic Materials Science

  • Research on new materials and plasma electronics.
  • Growth, physics and applications of film and nano-size structure made of thermoelectric material based on Calcium Cobaltate, solar cell material based on I-III-VI_2, diluted magnetic semiconductor based on II-VI, gas sensor material based on SnO_2 and transparent conductive material  (and fuel-cell membrane) based on tin-doped phosphate glass.
  • Development of advanced microwave plasma source and its applications to large-area materials processing, industrial application of plasma process by plasma gun, sputtering plasma, and atmospheric plasma.
  • Research on energy saving technologies for low carbon world; Cryogenics for high performance superconducting systems.
  • New current lead using thermoelectric materials.
  • Development of nano carbon devices for ultra low voltage including device architectures.
