About the Department of Architecture

The study of architecture, fusing the interdisciplinary subjects of engineering and technology, is a highly comprehensive academic field covering a wide range of domains. Consequently, the ability to adapt to a number of different industries and acquire a variety of work-related knowledge is required of those in the field. Accordingly, this department puts great efforts into training which cultivates both extensive learning and abundant sensibility in our students.

To this end, the core curriculum employs a unit course system covering three fields, Architectural Planning, Architectural Engineering and Architectural Production, allowing students to master the fundamentals of architectural design. The course is based on teaching in small groups, as well as various seminars that allow students to become further engaged with an academic subject. Original seminars ranging from research on traditional wooden houses to the latest CAD methods teach planning and trouble-shooting techniques, while reinforcing the acquisition of practical skills and experience.
